About Ajita Member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC)
I am a registered Counsellor and certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. I am also a Mindfulness Mentor. I work in Thames, New Zealand and also online via zoom. I have 13 years of experience working as a Counsellor in community groups and now in private practice. I offer expertise in mindfulness, meditation, spirituality, women's psychology and anxiety. I provide supervision to counsellors for their professional development.
I teach trauma- informed Mindfulness Meditation groups on-line. I also provide one to one mentoring in mindfulness. I offer a strength-based approach and in my years of counselling mindfulness has proven to be a powerful yet gentle healing practice in supporting my clients to connect to their own sources of strength and wisdom.
I have practised both Eastern and Western meditation for over 40 years. These have included Yoga, Christian Mysticism, Shamanism, Spiritualism, Non-Dual traditions and Buddhism. I have studied with Non-Dual and Buddhist teachers since 2005. I have practised and been informed by the teachings of Adyashanti for14 years until his retirement in 2023. I was certified as a meditation teacher in 2023, having completed Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach's Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Programme as well as their Mindfulness Mentor Training. Buddhism has added a depth of wisdom to the mindfulness interventions I use in my counselling and mentoring practice.
